Traditional Irish Turf Bog, a dying art in rural Ireland. Irish peat bogs still see traditional hand-cutting and turning of turf sods, but with recent environmental pressure it seems sure to die out soon… or did it?! Rapid inflation of living costs, especially energy, have seen skyrocketing prices of turf from Ireland’s turf bogs, yet only a select few families are still allowed to harvest turf in Ireland themselves. Will this mean a monopoly on a bespoke energy asset, or will others be allowed back onto the bog to continue utilising this ancient resource in Ireland?
